When I was at the bottom, I was in SERIOUS trouble. Death was really close, or best-case-scenario: long-term hospitalization.
My dad stepped up – in a HUGE way – and I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to thank him enough.
I can’t help but grieve that my children don’t have a dad like that. If they were in trouble, he wouldn’t step up. He can’t. He doesn’t have the tools. And probably never will.
Thank GOD I can show my kids examples of other types of men — uncles and a grandfather — who would move heaven and earth for them.
